The Mach-2 team is reconfigured last year's Sparrow rocket, adapted for a lower apogee - a two-stage COTS solid motor rocket, to fly to 2.5 km and deploy a payload at apogee. The payload will scatter seeds on descent and aims demonstrate a novel method to increase launch site biodiversity.
Our team comprised of 12 students this year successfully launched from a range of courses, including Astronautics and Space Engineering, Aerospace Vehicle Design, and Autonomous Vehicle Design and Control. The team launched from Machrihanish Air Base, Argyll with their deployable biodiversity-focused payload.
We have specialisms in Mechanical, Avionics, Recovery, and Propulsion, and every team member also contributes to the development of the payload.
We are always open to partnerships with industry and mentors, so don’t hesitate to get in touch!
